Malia Jacobson is a writer, editor, and sleep journalist. In 2004, she finished graduate school and became executive editor of business-school magazine Dividend. In 2008, she left her 10-year career in strategic communications and her role as a business-school marketing director to balance motherhood with freelance writing, corporate writing, and editing.
She began her journey toward sleep expertise in 2007 while researching her daughter’s sleep troubles. Soon, she was moderating a global sleep Website, where she helped parents around the world put their children's sleep troubles to rest. Her sleep articles are widely published and she answers questions from tired parents as the resident sleep expert at ParentingSquad.com.
Malia's articles on sleep, health, parenting, and business have appeared in over 60 publications, including Women's Health, Costco Connection Magazine, ParentMap Magazine, Seattle’s Child Magazine, Seattle Business Magazine, San Diego Family, Cincinnati Family, Baton Rouge Parents, New Jersey Family, and Staten Island Parent. She is a contributing writer at Broward Family Life Magazine and Family Time Magazine.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree in business administration/marketing. When she’s not writing, she co-organizes a popular parenting group in her hometown of Tacoma, Washington, digs in her garden, and explores the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two young daughters.
