May News and Updates

Memorial Day Weekend is finally here, and it’s finally feeling like summer in these parts! Here’s what I’ve been up to this month:

Once again, I’m contributing to Costco Connection Magazine with an article on staying well. This time, I'm writing about arthritis, America’s leading cause of disability.

My May feature article for ParentMap Magazine, “Opting Back In: The Pros and Cons of Returning to Work After Kids,” gives insider information on making the switch from career woman to at-home mom to working mom. The piece offers expert advice from human resources expert Amy McGeachy and others on navigating this tricky transition and creating post-kids career success.

As always, I’m answering parent questions as a ProSquad expert at ParentingSquad.com. My latest question involves handling summer bedtimes during those long, warm vacation days.

My work is featured in a number of parenting magazines this month, from Canada to Alabama. My article “Bunking Up: Tips for a Smooth Toddler-Bed Transition” is featured in the May-June issue of Calgary’s Child Magazine.

I’m also the newest addition to the blogger lineup over at the award-winning ParentMap Magazine’s blog. Check out my latest post with eight tips to get your child sleeping through the night.

Speaking of blogs, are you subscribed to mine yet? May was a busy month at The Well Rested Family. A couple of my most popular posts were Ask Malia: Handling the Anti-Bedtime Brigade and Ask Malia: The Portable, Napless Secondborn. (I love answering sleep questions on my blog, so if you've got one, hit me with it here!)

On May 10, I was featured in author and writing coach Christina Katz’s Every-Day-In-May Book Giveaway. It was great to be part of the writer-mama community with her fun annual giveaway—and who doesn’t love free books! (There’s still a few more days left in May, if you want to participate!)

Stay tuned for a busy June: I’ll be appearing King 5’s Parent to Parent on June 4 and June 25, contributing in a bunch of magazines, helping more tired parents, and juggling the crazy end-of-the-school year whirlwind.

Thanks for checking in and keeping up with me. Happy start-of-summer, everyone, and happy sleeping!
